Manohar is ISTD national president

VISAKHAPATNAM: Director (Personnel) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited/Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Y. Manohar has been elected unanimously as National President for the Indian Society for Training and Development for the term 2009-10.

He has taken over from Dr. Upinder Dhar in the AGM held at the national headquarters of ISTD at New Delhi.

Mr. Manohar was national vice-president of ISTD last year and is the first person from Visakhapatnam so far to become the national president of this prestigious society.

Non-profit society

ISTD, established as a non-profit society in April 1969, is a premier national professional institution devoted to the cause of promotion of continuing education in training and HRD with its network of 44 Chapters throughout India.

HR development

It has a large membership of institutions and persons involved in the training and development of human resources, from government, public and private organisations.

ISTD is a founder member of International Federation of Training and Development Organisations – Geneva, and Asian Regional Training and Development Organisations (ARTDO International), Manila.

A metallurgical engineer from Nagpur University, Mr. Manohar started his career in Rourkela Steel Plant.

He subsequently pursued graduation in chemical engineering, post graduation in industrial engineering and management and PG diploma in personnel management and visited USSR, USA and Europe.

In his 36 years of experience in public sector steel industry, he has one million hours of training to his credit in various capacities.
