DHARMAPURI: Aadiperukku festival (18th day of the Aadi, Tamil month) is being organised by the state government and district administration at Hogenekkal from August 1 to 3 in a grand manner. As more number of people are expected to participate in the Aadiperukku festival, elaborate security arrangement are made. Special arrangements are underway by officials of the fire service, health, rural development and revenue department for the smooth conduct of the festival. Enough drinking water, sanitary and medical facilities are arranged. Special buses would be operated to Hogennakkal. BanPeople who are coming by lorry and tempo would be stopped at the Pennagaram check post. They have to use only government buses from the check post. Tourists visiting for Aadiperukku festival will not be allowed to carry plastic bags and use of plastic bags at Hogennakkal was banned by the district administration. In view of the festival, liquor shops in Hogennakkal would be closed from August 2 evening 7 p.m. and August 3 evening 5 p.m. Various cultural programmes and exhibitions are arranged through the government departments at Hogennakkal. Tourists are requested to co-operate the district administration for the peaceful conduct of the festival, P. Amutha, collector said in a release here on Friday.
