Traffic changes introduced

Tiruvannamalai: Traffic changes have been introduced in Tiruvannamalai owing to the implementation of underground sewage scheme.

At a meeting of officials and bus owners specially convened to discuss traffic changes required, it was resolved to make Chinnakadai Street, where digging is under way, closed for heavy vehicles. It was also decided to prohibit heavy vehicles from moving eastward between Gandhi Statue and Anna Statue.

Only two-wheelers would be permitted in this direction.

It was also decided not allow heavy vehicles, except two-wheelers and autorickshaws, between Karpaga Vinayagar Temple junction and Gandhi Statue.

The Kamarajar statue-Karpaga Vinayagar Temple stretch is also closed for heavy vehicles.

Heavy vehicles, especially buses that come from Chengam direction to Tiruvannamalai bus stand, would be routed through the Girivalam path.

Buses that come from Manalurpet, Thandarampattu directions would be routed through Kamarajar Statue, Agni Theertham junction, Anna Statue, Periyar Statue, Mathalangula Street to reach the bus stand.

Collector (in charge) S.Viswanathan and Superintendent of Police M. Pandian were present at the meeting.
