Musical nite to be conducted today

Visakhapatnam: A Hindi filmi musical nite “Who jab yaad aaye” will be organised by Visakha Kala Sagar at the VUDA Children’s Theatre on Saturday.

The participants in the programme will pay tribute to the late Mohd Rafi on the occasion of his 30th death anniversary. Local singers Dr. Kiran Kumar, Sreemannarayana, Dr. Ram Narayan, Suhasini Anand, Ganti Usha and Sailaja Meraj would participate.

World Breast Feeding Week will be celebrated from August 1 to 7. An awareness rally will be taken out by students of Andhra Medical College to the Urban Health Centre at Bheem Nagar at Allipuram on Saturday. Professor G. Krishna Babu would lead the rally.

The objective of the programme is to highlight the importance of breast-feeding the child within an hour after delivery.

The Visakhapatnam Harbour and Port Worker’s Union will felicitate its honorary president V.V. Rama Rao on his successful return from Vietnam after participating in that country’s 80th National Day celebrations. The programme will be held at Sri Seetharama Kalyana Mandapam of Port at Salagramapuram on Saturday.

P.N. Vittal Dass, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs here till recently, has been appointed a Member of the Central Board of Excise and Customs. He assumed charge in New Delhi.
