Divya & Vijetha win doubles title

HYDERABAD: Divya Harsha and Vijetha of Lal Bahadur Stadium defeated Amulya and Girishma 21-12, 21-12 in the girls’ under-13 doubles final of the Hyderabad district badminton championship here on Friday.

The results:

Boys: Under-13: Semifinals: Rahul bt Viswanath 21-11, 21-14; J. Satish Naidu bt Sachin 21-15, 21-8. Doubles: Rahul & Viswanath bt A.V. Suchit & Rishi Kumar 21-9, 21-10; J. Satish Naidu & M. Nikhil bt Sachin & Harish 21-17, 21-13.

Girls: Under-13: Singles: Semifinals: Vijetha (LBS) bt Hamsika (KVBR) 21-8, 21-9; Divya Harsha (LBS) bt Ayesha (Gopi Academy) 21-13, 21-11. Doubles: Final: Divya Harsha & Vijetha bt Amulya & Garishma 21-12, 21-13.

Srikanth Raju shines

A fine spell by Srikanth Raju (seven for 47) helped Team Speed record a nine-wicket win over Oxford Blues in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship match here.

The scores: A-Division (two-day) league: Sayi Satya CC 133 (Abhiman six for 39) lost to Crown 137 for one (Md. Iqbal 74 not out).

Oxford Blues 129 (Shaik Mohd 42, Srikanth Raju seven for 47) lost to Team Speed 130 for one (Vijay Krishna 66 not out).

Central Excise 274 for nine (Saif-ur-Rahim 66, Syed Ayub Hussaini 60) vs Osmania.

Brothers XI 300 (Bhanu Prasad 53, Md. S. Amoodhi 50, Mohan 42) vs Nizam College 27 for no loss.

Schools league: AB Colony 127 (Rahul 32,Vinay Kumar three for 19, P. S. Chaitanya Reddy three for 35) lost to Yadav Dairy 128 for three (P. S. Chaitanya Reddy 68).

XI Masters 102 (Melvin John four for 21) lost to Vijay CC 106 for three (V. Gokul 54).

Inter-school athletics

Hyderabad 10K Foundation will organise its inter-school athletic meet on August 1 at Gachibowli GMC Balayogi Stadium near here.

Former All England champion Pullela Gopi Chand will hoist the flag while Sports Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy will be the chief guest.

For the valedictory function, V. Radha, SAAP VC & MD, Collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts will be the guests of honour.

St. Paul’s Academy TT

St. Paul’s Table Tennis Academy will organise its 11th annual, State-ranking and inter-schools tournament, sponsored by M/s K. S. Raymond (Malakpet), from August 13 to 16.

Competitions will be held in singles for men, women, boys and girls in different age groups besides the inter-schools championships.
