The Coimbatore Jewellers’ Association will conduct gold appraiser course for goldsmiths and the public. According to a release, the course will be held for 10 days from August 3 on the jewellers’ association premises (Hanumantharayar Koil Street). The course fee is Rs. 2,750 for the association members and those recommended by the members. For the public, it is Rs. 3,500 each. A batch will have only 30 participants. TrainingThe South India Textile Research Association will conduct two-day training on “Energy Management in Spinning Mills” on August 6 and 7. The programme will focus on methods to save energy, covering electrical, textile and mechanical processes. AssistanceLabour Welfare Board will disburse textbook assistance and education assistance to workers who have registered with the board and are earning less than Rs. 10,000 a month. According to a release, labourers who have registered with the board can send in the application to the Secretary of the board before October 31. AppealThe Tamil Nadu Pumps and Spares Manufacturers’ Association has appealed to the government to reduce the licence fee for small and micro pumpset making units for the standards and labelling programme of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. The association also sought tax exemption for agricultural pumpsets under the Goods and Service Tax. The government should provide special status to Coimbatore and provide better infrastructure and connectivity facilities.
