Rs. 3.50 lakh is required for each building whereas only Rs. 2.80 lakh is now available Kakinada: District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said on Saturday steps were being taken on a war-footing for construction of own buildings for 106 anganwadi centres in the district keeping in view the problems being faced by both the children and teachers. The ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) project director has to take necessary follow-up action. In a review meeting on Anganwadi centres here, Mr. Dwivedi said Rs 3.50 lakh was required for each building whereas only Rs 2.80 lakh was available at the moment. Buildings construction would be taken up immediately in villages where the respective mandal parishads of panchayats contribute the balance. The Collector ordered ICDS project director N Vidyavati to ensure construction of anganwadi buildings started this month itself and to motivate the mandals parishads / village panchayats to make up for the deficit (Rs 70,000 per unit). He has also instructed the Rural Water Supply Department officials to take steps for provision of drinking water facility and toilets in the anganwadi centres before the constructions are completed. Panchayat Raj executive engineer V Narasimha Reddy and G Sangameswara Rao, divisional engineer K Rama Kant and others participated.
