Government more concerned about MNCs: Communist Party of India

Staff Reporter

BARGUR: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government was more interested in welcoming MNCs with red carpet than giving free house site patta to poor people, said C.Mahendran, State Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of India here on Saturday. He was addressing the CPI and CPI(M) activists here.

Chief Minister Karunanidhi was showing much interest in MNCs. The government gave all facilities, including land, when an MNC approached it but it was not the case with issuance of patta to poor people. This approach led to increase in realty business.

Since the DMK was responsible for the by-elections to two Assembly constituencies, it cannot criticise the AIADMK.

Separate identity

Communist Parties opposed the boycott decision of the AIADMK. Communists have their own identity in the national and State politics. DMK and Congress did not have clear-cut policy towards globalisation.

The DMK Government enacted 30 laws on the last day of the Assembly session. Its policies of giving free CTVs and providing rice at Re.1 a kg will never improve the standard of living of the poor people. Government should find ways to empower them through creating self sustainable employment, he added.
