BJP, BJYM seek white paper on TTD spending

Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: State and district leaders of the Sangh Parivar organisations on Saturday took a delegation to TTD Executive Officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao and sought his intervention in checking the ‘imprudent’ manner in which the TTD funds were being spent on works not directly connected with the Devasthanams.

Leading the delegation, State BJYM president G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy, in a five-point representation submitted to Mr. Rao, questioned the spending of TTD funds on a recently-built private temple located at Thummalagunta near Tirupati and also wanted to know the basis on which it was supplying Rs.75,000 worth of flowers to the temple every month.

The representation also demanded a ‘white paper’ on the TTD funds allegedly ‘frittered away’ on the Kalyanamasthu and Dalitha Govindam programmes during the last five years.

The Sangh Parivar leaders also wanted a close watch on the spending of the TTD’s engineering wing.

Daily rituals

They urged the TTD to take over the ‘Vakulamalikadevi’ temple located on a hillock near Tirupati and arrange for daily ‘puja’ and ‘neivedyam’ to the goddess, said to be the foster mother of Lord Venkateswara.
