Music workshop on August 15

THANJAVUR: The Chennai Chapter of Music Forum, which is an all India forum of musicians and music lovers interested in preserving and propagating Indian classical music, is organising a workshop at Thiruvaiyaru on August 15 for school and college students.

The team from Chennai with its convenor Sunder is organising the workshop.

The programme would be interactive and students would be encouraged to answer questions and given prizes for their participation.

To encourage local talents, opportunities would be given to the first five schools and colleges that register for the programme to perform for ten minutes each towards the end of the programme. School (sixth standard and above) and college students interested in Carnatic music could enrol themselves through their schools for the event.

There would be no restriction on the number of students from each institution and registration would also be free.

The institution that sends the maximum number of registrations would receive the Rasika award. Prizes and certificates would also be distributed.
