Coimbatore: Dr. Amebedkar Government and Public Sector SC/ST Employees Welfare Association has flayed the practice of suspending government servants from service on the penultimate day of their retirement. Association’s president Dalit S. Jayaraj said in a press release that any charge or complaint against a government servant should be taken up for inquiry immediately. According to a Government Order, action on complaints against government servants should not be delayed. Mental agonySuspension just prior to the retirement would cause mental agony for the government servant and his family members as the person would not get any retirement benefits. In violation of the order, an official in Municipal Administration and Drinking Water Supply Department in Tirunelveli zone was recently suspended one day prior to his retirement. The said suspension order should be revoked and all government departments should be instructed to ensure that such incidents did not happen again, Mr. Jayaraj said.
