NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a 200-bed Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital at Shastri Park in the Capital’s trans-Yamuna area on Saturday. The hospital also has a 24-hour emergency OPD. Ms. Dikshit said her government was committed to providing better health care facilities to the people of Delhi. “We are preparing a comprehensive plan for improving the condition of hospitals. Like the Vidyalaya Kalyan Samitis, Hospital Kalyan Samitis will be formed by involving the medical superintendents for betterment of hospitals. A contingency fund will also be provided to the samitis for carrying out small repairs and cleanliness works in hospitals,” she added. The Chief Minister said her government had tried to fulfil all the promises made to the people. “Apart from ensuring better power and water supply, we have given the people numerous flyovers, a better public transport system, a world class metro railway and an enhanced green cover. We are also planning to bring in more air-conditioned buses. As many as 150 CATS ambulances will be acquired by June 2010,” she added. Informing local residents that new schemes would be launched in the trans-Yamuna area for its all-round development, Ms. Dikshit said: “We will provide amenities in East Delhi at par with New Delhi.” Health Minister Kiran Walia said the Delhi Government was committed to extending better health care facilities to Delhiites. “We will make hospitals well-equipped and self-sufficient in every manner so that patients are not put to any inconvenience,” she added.
