HYDERABAD: Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) has enforced special measures to curb ragging, which include anti-ragging squads, complaint boxes, and awareness campaigns, said a press note. Orders have been issued to all the affiliated colleges in the State towards setting up of anti-ragging squads with representation from parents, lecturers, students, voluntary organisations, police officers, and local journalists, informed Dean, Students’ Affairs S.V. Ramakrishna Rao. Vice-Chancellor P. Raghava Reddy directed the officials to instil confidence among the fresh students, informed the press release.Flexi-boards and posters with the toll-free helpline numbers of Government of India (1800 180-5522 and 155222) and the State government’s Crime Stoppers toll-free number (1090) are being displayed wherever possible. First year classes at the university and affiliated colleges are set to begin during the last week of August.
