Painting competition held for city school children

Students gave shapes to images in colourful hues, including pristine forest

CHENNAI: Several children from city schools participated in the ‘Painting Utsav 2009’ organised by Exnora Club of Anna Nagar held at Valliammal College for Women, Anna Nagar East, on Sunday.

Giving expressions to their dreams, the students painted pictures of various images in colourful hues, including pristine forest, wildlife, farmers engaged in agricultural work and a model village setup.

Film actor Charlie was all praise for the Exnora clubs in the city, which has become synonymous for keeping their surrounding clean.

He had a word of advice for the parents about not to put too much pressure on the children in determining their career, as the children of today are well read and aware of the situation.

He distributed prizes and certificates to the winners of the painting competition.

K. Lakshmanan, Regional Head, IndusInd Bank, assured that the bank would extend its support to activiteis of the Club.

M. Chidambaram, secretary, Exnora International, also spoke on the occasion.

More than 1,000 students from several schools in the city participated in the painting as well as the elocution competitions.
