HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has demanded that the government order an inquiry into the suspicious death of Armed Reserve constable Muralinath in New Delhi. The TDP wanted the government to register cases under Section 302 of the IPC against the officials who had deputed him to New Delhi on private engagement. The party wanted compensation of Rs.10 lakh in addition to all the benefits on a par with the personnel who are killed during extremist violence, given to the family of the deceased. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, TDP senior leader P. Chandrasekhar said there were several doubts about the death as the body of the deceased was not handed over to the family and funeral rites were performed without informing his relatives. “In the normal course, the bodies of even naxalites and terrorists are handed over to their families after post-mortem,” he said reiterating that a thorough inquiry alone would bring out the facts. Web counsellingTDP senior leader K. Vijayarama Rao criticised the government for “messing up” web counselling process for admission into engineering colleges. The government should take necessary action against those responsible for the ham-handed behaviour of officials, besides clarifying doubts about the fate of the students who had exercised their options already, he said.
