Sandeep’s effort in vain
KOCHI: Medium-pacer N. Sandeep Kumar’s six-wicket haul went in vain as Sharon CC lost to Cordiant Sports Foundation by 24 runs in the semifinal of the 21st K.T.R. Varma Memorial cricket tournament at the BPCL Kochi Refinery Oval (Ambalamugal) on Monday.
The scores (semifinals): Cordiant Sports Foundation 107 in 30 overs (Sandeep six for 27) bt Sharon CC 83 in 33.4 overs (C. Ramesh four for 36, V.S. Sunil three for 15).
Earlier matches (quarterfinals): ECC Trust 140 in 29.1 overs (Shelly 55, Anurag 41, M.S. Akhil three for 30, Salmon Sebastian three for 22) lost to EDCA President’s XI 141 for five in 24.5 overs (Arjun 48); Muthoot MCC 94 in 22.4 overs (Sreejith 60, Gireesh five for19, Samaj three for nine) lost to Sharon CC 98 for five in 21 overs.
