Collaborative programme planned

SALEM: Periyar University has planned to introduce University – Industry Collaborative Programme through its distance education wing, Periyar Institute of Distance Education.

Career-oriented undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses will be offered in collaboration with the industries under the programme.

“As part of the course, students will be given training to meet the requirements of the industry and production houses so that when they complete the course, they will be ready to go and work on live projects,” university officials said.

Multimedia

The university has planned to offer courses in advanced multimedia, animation and information technology subjects under the programme initially.

Vice-Chancellor M. Thangaraju said the primary objective of the programme was to strengthen the career prospects of the students and enable them to get real time experience while learning.

The university will tie up with the industries for offering the courses under the programme.

The list of courses will be announced shortly.
