Arguments on blasts case appeals begin

CHENNAI: Arguments on appeals in the Coimbatore serial blasts case began in the High Court on Monday.

The appeals have been filed challenging the acquittal of A.N. Maudhany of Kochi, seeking to enhance the conviction imposed on the accused and those convicted and sentenced, challenging the trial court’s decision. A petitioner Vellingiri of Mettupalayam, who was a prosecution witness in the case, submitted that the trial court had erred in acquitting Mr. Maudhany by magnifying minor infirmities, thus resulting in grave injustice.
