Housing loan waiver scheme launched

KOTTAYAM: The work on delineating adivasi land to be made available to the tribal population as per the Forest Rights Act will commence next week, K. P. Rajendran, Minister for Revenue, has said. He was speaking at the State level inauguration of the Housing Loan Waiver Scheme for the weaker sections here on Monday. Mr. Rajendran said nearly 450 government employees have been given special training for the purpose. The minister returned the first few title deeds which have been with the government as collateral security for the housing loans. Mons Joseph, Minister for Works, returned the title deeds which had been with the government as collateral security for loans taken under the Flood Relief Housing Loan. The government will write off arrears worth Rs.183 crore as part of the Loan Waiver scheme.
