NALGONDA: Some of the villagers of Shaligowraram climbed a cell phone tower of a reputed cellular company in the village on Monday demanding its removal from the village. According to sources, 15 villagers, mainly comprising the village youth, scaled the tower in the afternoon in a bid to register their protest. They raised slogans alleging that the cell phone tower posed grave health risks to the villagers due to emission of radiation. On hearing the news, the Revenue officials led by the Mandal Tahasildhar Anjaiah reached the spot and inquired about the grievances of the protesters. The agitated villagers urged the officials to ensure shifting of the tower from the village keeping in view the safety concerns of the villagers. The officials assured the protesters that their grievances would be represented to the higher officials concerned. The protesters called off the stir and came down following the assurance.
