TIRUNELVELI: After talks on wage revision failed, the bankers have decided to go on strike on August 6 and 7. In a statement, organiser of United Bankers Employees’ and Officers’ Confederation R. Rengan said that at a time when the State and Central Governments had implemented the recommendations of Sixth Pay Commission and increased the salary between 25 per cent and 40 per cent, the government was so reluctant of hiking the salary to the bankers. After initially agreeing to give a salary hike of 17.50 per cent, the government refused to give more than 13 per cent during the talks held in front of Central Labour Commissioner.
