SFI instigating violence on campuses, says ABVP

Special Correspondent

‘Attack on ABVP workers motivated by SFI’

ABVP to stage demonstration

on Wednesday

KANNUR: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has alleged that the Students Federation of India (SFI) is instigating violence against rival student organisations on many college campuses in the district.

ABVP State secretary G.M. Mahesh said at a press conference here on Tuesday that student organisations other than the SFI were not able to function in Government Brennen College, Government Polytechnic, Industrial Training Institute, Nirmalagiri College, CES College and Payyannur College.

The recent attack by SFI activists on ABVP workers in Brennen College was motivated by the SFI’s intolerance, he said adding that ABVP workers who were taking part in a demonstration at Thalassery on Monday against the Brennen College incident had been assaulted by the SFI activists.

SFI activists led by SFI State secretary A.M. Shamseer forcibly freed SFI workers’ arrested in connection with the incidents on Monday, he alleged.

The ABVP will stage a demonstration and public meeting at Thalassery on Wednesday evening to protest against the attacks, he added.
