It was a happy outing for host Bharathiar University in the men’s section Coimbatore: Nirmala College tallied 55 points to emerge the overall champion for women in the Coimbatore inter-collegiate athletic association sports and games here recently. Nirmala finished on top in ball badminton, handball, kabaddi, powerlifting, volleyball and weightlifting for the overall title. It was a happy outing for host Bharathiar University as well as its men clinched the handball, kabaddi and hockey titles with relative ease. Referees examThe Tamil Nadu Volleyball Association has proposed to conduct the referees’ examination for all the districts at the M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering, Thalavapalayam in Karur, on August 8. The exam will be conducted by the Karur District Volleyball Association. For details, contact M. Selection trialsThe inter-district volleyball championship for sub-junior and mini categories will be held at Dindigul (Aug 13-16) and Karur (Aug 27-30) respectively.
