Mohanraj and Boris picked four wickets apiece as Rainbow Cricket Club scored a comfortable five-wicket win over Suryabala Cricketers in the TNCA-CDCA first division league for the Pricol Trophy at the TNAU grounds recently.

The scores: Suryabala Cricketers 164 in 40 overs (Kathirvel 55, Mohanraj four for 18, Boris four for 28) lost to Rainbow CC 165 for five in 28.3 overs (P. Premkumar 67); Arumugam CC 175 in 45.5 overs (K. Rajesh 37, M.N. Harikumar 45, Nitish Kumar Sahaney three for 20) lost to RKS CAS 176 for nine in 49 overs (S. Saravanan 33, Kandasamy 34 not out, M.N. Harikumar three for 16); Jolly Rovers 130 in 48.3 overs (Ajeath 47) lost to Coimbatore Raiders 133 for six in 31.5 overs (D. Srinivasan 41 not out, Koushik three for 39).

The Tamil Nadu Volleyball Association has proposed to conduct the referees’ examination for all the districts at the M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering, Thalavapalayam in Karur, on August 8.

The exam will be conducted by the Karur District Volleyball Association. For details, contact M. Venkatapathy, Secretary, Coimbatore District Volleyball Association, Corporation Sports Complex, Nehru Stadium, Coimbatore-18 on or before August 6.

The inter-district volleyball championship for sub-junior and mini categories will be held at Dindigul (Aug 13-16) and Karur (Aug 27-30) respectively.

The Coimbatore District Volleyball Association will hold selection trials for its boys and girls for the respective tournaments at the Nehru Stadium grounds on August 7 at 3 p.m. Players born on or after 1-1-1994 (sub-junior) and 1-1-1996 (mini) are eligible.

Madonna HSS (Mettupalayam) and Ealumalai Polytechnic College (Villupuram) took home the rolling trophies and cash awards of Rs. 5,000 each for schools and polytechnic colleges respectively in the Bishop Thomas Aquinas volleyball tournament at Christ the King Polytechnic College recently.

CIT Sandwich Polytechnic defeated GRG Polytechnic 29-14, 29-7 in the Inter-Polytechnic Athletic Association (IPAA) ball badminton tournament for Coimbatore division at the CIT grounds on Monday.
