HYDERABAD: Having cleared the decks for the re-entry of Praja Rajyam leader, T. Devender Goud into the party, Telugu Desam is facing stiff resistance from former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Resignation threatMr. Yadav is believed to have held out a threat to resign from the party, if Mr. Goud was allowed to rejoin without tendering apology to the party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu for betraying him. The TDP’s unsuccessful candidate from Secunderabad Assembly constituency told his supporters at a meeting at his residence on Tuesday, a day after Mr. Goud’s announcement on returning to the party fold, that they should be prepared for quitting the party. A known critic of Mr. Goud, Mr. Yadav reportedly declared before his followers that it was not just a leader who was re-entering the party but bringing with him the rejected ideology of separate Statehood for Telangana. Political spaceThis came at a time when the party was inching towards reversing its stand on Telangana and slowly getting back its political space. Allowing Mr. Goud into the party now would again spell trouble for the party. UpsetHis followers said Mr. Yadav was upset as the news of Mr. Goud came a few days after he joined the party after much dilly dallying and reportedly extracting an assurance from the leadership about his position. Senior leaders, K. Yerran Naidu and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu reportedly tried to pacify him, but he was in mood to listen to them.
