Aditya performs hat-trick for DAV Mogappair

Chennai: B. Aditya picked up five wickets (including a hat-trick) to help DAV Mogappair post a five-wicket win over Velammal (Surapet) in the semifinals of the TDCA-Boost under-16 tournament here on Tuesday.

The scores (semifinals):

Velammal MHSS (Surapet) 126 for eight in 30 overs (B. Aditya five for 14) lost to DAV SSS (Mogappair) 128 for five in 24.4 overs (A. Vignesh 38).

TI MHSS 111 in 28.5 overs (P. Roshan 32, L. Ganesh Lingam four for 17) lost to Ebenezer Marcus 112 for nine in 29.4 overs (L. Ganesh Lingam 30).

Jawahar Vidyalaya posts win

Jawahar Vidyalaya beat Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram by 64 runs in the TNCA-Boost city schools under-16 cricket tournament being held here.

The scores:

Jawahar Vidyalaya 142 for five in 20 overs (Raghav Viswanathan 56, Divya Prakash 29, S. Hriday three for 31) bt Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram 78 in 18 overs (B. Karhtik three for 20).

PSBB ‘B’ 46 in 13.3 overs (K.S. Prahalad three for 3) lost to Vidya Mandir 49 for no loss in 4.2 overs (M.A.M. Ganesh 31 not out).

Easy for Don Bosco

Don Bosco defeated Vidya Mandir by 64 runs in the Sumeru Soft under-16 cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

The scores: St. John’s 82 in 34 overs (P.R. Sylvester Jayan 41, B. Indrajith four for 10, K. Sai Aravind three for 5) lost to St. Bede’s 86 for one in 17.1 overs (M. Arun Alagappan 39 not out, K. Bharath Shankar 35 not out).

Don Bosco 214 for nine in 50 overs (Mitchell Antony 26, Ganpath Sethia 36, Jim Israel 48 not out, Abdul Latheef 41, K.S. Prahalad three for 46) bt Vidya Mandir 150 in 44.1 overs (S. Ashwath four for 32).

Chettinad 235 for four in 50 overs (C. Aqshay 40, G. Sanjeev 61, K.R. Vishal 27, Vasanth Kumar 37 not out) lost to St. Patrick’s 236 for five in 47.3 overs (S.R. Sree Vignesh Rao 85, P. Arun 26, Bargav Venkatakrishnan 33).

Santhome 198 in 48.1 overs (R. Jayachandran 61) bt PSBB (K.K. Nagar) 173 in 46.5 overs (Adithya Gridar 43, R. Aravindan 41, K. Ravi Kumar three for 26).

Venkatesh sparkles

Venkatesh Prabakaran returned figures of 5-2-8-4 to help Nellai Nadar MHSS dismiss Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav SSS for 36 and then struck an unbeaten 26 to guide his side to a nine-wicket win in the Dr. Vimala memorial cup inter-school under-13 cricket tournament here.

The scores: Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav SSS 35 in 12.4 overs (Venkatesh Prabakaran four for eight) lost to Nellai Nadar MHSS 36 for one in 2.3 overs (Venkatesh Prabakaran 26 n.o.).

CSCA-Ganpa memorial Trophy (u-13): Asiatic CA 130 for six in 25 overs (S. Lakshmi Kanth 39) lost to N. Kanniah CA 132 for seven in 22.2 overs (Leo Sachin 46 n.o.).

Saranya rallies to win

Saranya Saravanan rallied to beat Sanjana Chandrasekhar 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in an under-14 girls’ singles first round match at the India Pistons-TNTA KTC junior tennis tournament.

CDVA league

The Chennai District Volleyball Association (CDVA) will conduct the Chennai District ‘B’ division league from August 24 to 30 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium. Entries close on Aug. 17 with A.K. Chithraipandian, Secretary, CDVA, Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore, Chennai-8.

Badminton tournament

The Dev Sports Academy will conduct its 11th district-level badminton tournament for men (doubles) at its indoor floodlit courts in Chengalpattu on August 8 and 9. Volleyball trials

A selection trials to pick up the Chennai District sub-junior boys and girls volleyball teams will be held on August 7 at 6 a.m. at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadiun. Players born after 1-1-1994 are eligible. The inter-District championship will be held at Dindigul from August 13 to 16 during which the State team for the National championship will be selected.
