KOLKATA: The Indian women’s recurve team finished the FITA qualification round in third place in the World Cup archery (Stage IV) at Shanghai on Thursday. The trio of Rimil Buriuly, Dola Banerjee and Pratima Boro compiled 3974 points to place India behind Korea (4100) and the Russian Federation (4007). India will now face 14th placed Kazakhstan as its first round opponent in the team elimination. Among the four Indians in fray — Reena Kumari being the fourth member — Rimil was the best placed in the individual qualification finishing at sixth with a total of 1344 points. Rimil, who came into the senior side only this year, stunned the world with a second place finish in the 70m distance with 334 behind Korea’s Yun Ok-Hee (336). Veteran Dola was the next best with 1331 and she too finished in the top six in the 30m distance with 353 points. The let down, came from debutante Pratima. According to information received here, Pratima could manage only 1299 which earned her the 31st spot. Reena finished a rung lower at 32 with a total of 1298. Ok-Hee topped the individual qualification with 1388. The top seed set a world mark in the 60m distance with a score of 353 which surpassed her compatriot Kim Yu-Mi’s score of 351 set in 2004. Another Korean Jo Hyun-Jung followed next at 1370 and France’s Berengere Schuh was third with 1360. Individual elimination rounds will be gone through on Friday.
