Kurnool bags title

VIJAYAWADA: Kurnool bagged the A.V. Narasimha Reddy Memorial Trophy for the ACA South Zone U-16 inter-district tournament by garnering 15 points. Anantapur and Nellore finished second and third with 14 and seven points respectively.

Anantapur defeated Kadapa by 107 runs, while the tie between Nellore and Chittoor ended in a draw. The final day witnessed centuries by Shiva Ram (110) for Chittoor and Aswin Hebbar (107 n.o.) for Nellore.

The scores:

Chittoor 235 and 245 for five in 58 overs (Shiva Ram 110, Dinesh 75, A.V. Surya 41) drew with Nellore 176 in 55.3 overs (Aswin Hebbar 107 n.o., A.V. Surya five for 48).

Anantapur 178 and 185 for three decl. in 37 overs (Raghavendra 69 n.o., K. Imthiyaz 56) bt Kadapa 136 in 45.4 overs (Irfan Basha five for 40, Masthan Azad three for 31) and 120 in 27.4 overs (Irfan Basha three for 31, K. Imthiyaz three for seven).

Prakasam takes lead

Prakasam took a 37-run first innings lead over Krishna in the ACA Central Zone U-22 inter-district tournament for the Md. Nazibullah Khan Memorial Trophy at the CSR Sarma Grounds at Ongole, according to information reaching here on Thursday.

The scores:

Krishna 102 in 24.5 overs (Prabhu Kiran 38, Jawahar five for 43) and 89 for three in 19 overs vs. Prakasam 139 in 42.4 overs (T.K. Ganesh Kumar six for 38).

Selection match

A selection match will be held among the 24 probables to pick the ACA South Zone U-16 team from August 7 to 9 at the Anantapur Sports Village at Anantapur.
