State u-13 chess
Coimbatore: The 22nd Tamil Nadu State under-13 chess championship for boys and girls for the Dolphin Trophies will be held at the Hindusthan College of Arts and Science here from August 9 to 15.
The week-long event has attracted about 180 players out of whom 47 are internationally rated.
Defending champion Vasanthruba Varman, G. Akash, S. Kaushik, Karthikeyan Murali and Michell Catherina (Chennai) are some of the top stars taking part.
The championship, which carries a total prize money of Rs. 20,000, will feature both the zero tolerance rules and the Buchholz system (tie-break) for the first time at this level. — Sports Reporter
