CPI demands judicial probe into killings by CRPF in Chhattisgarh

Special Correspondent/K.V. Prasad

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India on Thursday demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged encounter in Chhattisgarh in which seven villagers including four of its workers were killed by the Central Reserve Police Force.

In a statement, the party central secretariat said the incident was reported late due to the terror let loose by the police in the area. It said on June 20, 11 CRPF personnel were killed in a blast and in retaliation CRPF killed seven villagers the same day.

Besides the probe, the party demanded Rs. 10 lakh ex-gratia to each of the family of the innocent villagers killed. –(EOM)--
