Selection camp for cueists from Aug. 18

BANGALORE: Top eight cueists at the last nationals will undergo a week long selection camp (for men and women) at the KSBA hall starting August 18.

The camp is to select the Indian team for the Asian Indoor Games to be held at Vietnam. National coach Subash Agarwal will oversee the camp.

Those attending the camp are:

Men: Snooker: Pankaj Advani, Manan Chandra, Sourav Kothari, Brijesh Damani, Kamal Chawla, Adithya Mehta, Alok Kumar, Shahbaz Adil Khan.

Billiards: Pankaj Advani, Geet Sethi, Dhruv Sitwala, Ashok Shandilya, Devendra Joshi, B. Bhaskar, Rupesh Shah, Sourav Kothari.

Women: Snooker: Vidya Pillai, Chitra Magimairaj, Neena Praveen, Anuja Chandra, Meenal Thakur, Sangeeta Hemchand, Neeta Sanghvi, Suniti Damani.

Billiards: R. Uma Nagaraj, Chitra Magimairaj, Anuja Chandra, Meenal Thakur.

State junior basketball

The Karnataka State Basketball Association will conduct the State junior basketball championship for boys and girls (u-18) at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts from August 16 to 22.

Forty-two boys and 23 girls’ teams are expected to participate. The tournament will be played on knockout cum semi-final league basis.

Players born on or after 01.01.1991 are eligible.

Umpires’ seminar

The focus was on ‘coping with errors in terms of decision-making’ as the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) umpires’ seminar commenced at the National Cricket Academy here on Thursday.

The BCCI’s Chief Administrative Officer, Ratnakar Shetty, inaugurated the seminar that was guided by ICC elite panel umpire Simon Taufel.

On Friday, the first batch of 33 umpires will have a practical session on assessing bad light situations.
