NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet on Thursday gave its nod for providing additional financial assistance of Rs. 117.21 crore for immediate sustenance of the Kosi flood-affected families in Bihar.
The Additional Central Assistance (ACA) from planned funds would be utilised for the running of relief camps for the period over the specified norms under the Calamity Relief Fund (CRF)/National Calamity Contingency Fund (NCCF). The funds are in addition to the Rs. 497.35 crore approved by the government from the NCCF to the Bihar government during the Kosi flood of 2008, sources said.
The funds are meant to supplement the efforts of the State for carrying out immediate relief operations for affected families.
