Low-weight children treated

Special Correspondent

TIRUVARUR: The district administration was making special efforts to improve the health of the children who required immediate medical attention, said M.Chandrasekaran, Collector, here on Wednesday.

The Collector, who inspected a special medical camp here organised under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) to treat 24 children below three years of age and suffering from weight loss, said that all kids should be healthy in the district.

He pointed out that about 28,000 children below three years were being provided nutritious food at the Anganwadis in all the villages in the district.

He said that 24 kids were found underweight even after being provided nutritious food and these children were only brought to the special medical camp for treatment.

Special arrangements have also been made for further treatment to these kids, he said.
