Jail warder arrested, ganja seized

MADURAI: Police seized 250 grams of ganja from the residence of jail warder, Jayaram, on the Madurai Central Prison complex on Sunday.

Following complaints that ganja was sold to some inmates, the authorities stepped up surveillance. Checks on visitors were also intensified.

A wordy duel between a jail warder and his wife created chaos among neighbours in the residential wing of the prison complex. When police arrived, they conducted a search and recovered ganja from Mr. Jayaram’s house.

A case under NDPS Act and for using obscene language in public place was registered.

The Karimedu police arrested the accused. — Special Correspondent
