Alappuzha takes lead

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alappuzha took the lead against Thiruvananthapuram in the South Zone under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at the Medical College ground here on Monday.

After medium-pacer K. Subash (seven for 35) had restricted the visitor to 174, Thiruvananthapuram was bundled out for 82 with R. Rahul (five for 42) and S. Aswin (three for four) doing the damage.

At the Ashramam maidan, Kollam was poised to take the lead against Kottayam. In reply to Kollam’s 184, Kottayam was struggling at 112 for eight at stumps.

Alappuzha 174 in 51.2 overs (R. Vineesh 55, P. Rahul 39, K. Subash seven for 35) v Thiruvananthapuram 82 in 24.3 overs (R. Rahul five for 42, S. Aswin three for four).

Kollam 184 in 67 overs (Akshay Kodath 79, Jackson 39, Bramadarshan six for 53, Ajimon Paul three for 52) v Kottayam 112 for eight in 36 overs (T. Prakash 44). — Principal Correspondent
