Vehicles, sand mining machinery seized
PUDUKOTTAI: In a surprise raid conducted by the special squads of the Revenue Department, three sand-laden tractors and an excavator used for mining the sand were seized near Manamelkudi in the district. A fine of Rs. 1.02 lakh was imposed on the lorry owners. The Revenue Divisional Office, A. M. Nagendran, said that two lorries together with an excavator were seized from S. Rajagopal and K. Durai Manickam both of Manamelkudi.
A fine of Rs. 76,860 was levied on them.
The vehicles were seized at Kodikulam near Kottaipattinam.
In another raid, a sand-laden lorry belonging to Ranganathan was seized and a fine of Rs. 25,930 imposed, he said.
