RBI panel to monitor banking

Tirupur: The Reserve Bank of India will shortly constitute District Level Security Committee (DLSC) to review issues related to security of banking operations and to effectively tackle the menace of counterfeit notes in the district.
Official sources told The Hindu that the committee, to be headed by Collector as its chairman, would keep a close watch of movement of currencies in the district as well quality of notes in supply.
The first meeting of the committee would be convened soon to evolve an action plan to provide foolproof security to bank branches having currency chest which facilitates exchange of mutilated, defective and torn notes, and overall currency management in the district.
The other panellists would include Assistant General Manager (Issues department) of RBI as its convener, Superintendent of Police as its member,.
The lead bank manager, regional heads of currency chest branches in the district, representatives of district central cooperative bank, regional rural bank and leading urban bank as its coordinators.
