ANANTAPUR: A day after ace film-maker Ram Gopal Varma met Superintendent of Police M.K. Singh seeking protection to his production team during shooting of ‘Rakta Charita’ film scheduled in the district next month, a delegation of CPI, AIYF and AISF called on the SP on Tuesday and requested him not to permit filming of the controversial subject. Town secretary of CPI P. Narayanaswamy, AIYF district president N. Sriramulu and secretary G. Gopal and AISF district president I. Bayanna and secretary B. Ramana and others met the district police chief and submitted a memorandum. It is not desirable and necessary to glorify the rivalry between two families by making a film, they told the SP. They appealed to the SP not to allow shooting of the film and examine the script of the film before taking a decision to allow the filming and providing security to the film unit. Otherwise, the CPI and its frontal organisations in association with other political parties would obstruct the shooting proceedings, they cautioned.
