Fitness programme useful: Ganguly

KOLKATA: Four more Kolkata Knight Riders’ players, including Sourav Ganguly, underwent physical examination by the team’s physio Andrew Leipus at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

Apart from Ganguly, Sourav Sarkar, Wriddhiman Saha and Anustup Majumdar were the others.

These four apart, Ranadeb Bose of Kings XI Punjab, Manoj Tiwary of Delhi Daredevils and Bengal off-spinner Sourasish Lahiri also joined in on the invitation of Ganguly, who termed the ongoing pre-season camp as “useful”.

“It is indeed a very useful exercise aimed at judging the level of fitness in an individual,” said Ganguly about the fitness programme planed for the next three days. “The fitness programme has been designed with a purpose and I am sure it will be very useful to all.”

Fitness trainer Adrian le Roux is expected to be in Kolkata on Wednesday. Most of the outstation players, notably Anureet Singh, Yashpal Singh and Chateswar Pujara are expected to attend.

May not miss Zaheer

Later talking to the media, Ganguly said the Indian team might not miss injured pacer Zaheer Khan in the upcoming tri-series and the Champions Trophy.

“India won in the West Indies without Zaheer and (Virender) Sehwag. In fact this will give an opportunity to youngsters to prove themselves.” – Special Correspondent
