Indians sizzle

BANGALORE: The Indian swimmers struck it rich at the Asian age group aquatic championship at Tokyo on Tuesday.

Virdhawal Khade claimed a gold in the 200m freestyle, clocking 1m 50.14s in the Open section, a meet record. He also won a silver with a National record in the 50m butterfly (24.17s). In the Group I boys’ section, Aaron D’ Souza clinched the 100m freestyle silver in 51.19s.

Richa Misra took the silver in the 800m freestyle in the Open category with a timing of 9:11.68s. Richa also won a bronze in the 200m individual medley (2:25.84s). Sandeep Sejwal claimed a silver in the 100m breaststrokein 1:00.97.

J. Agnishwar finished fifth in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 29.31s. The Indian quartet of Rehan Poncha, Sejwal, Khade and Agnishwar won a bronze in the 4x100m freestyle.
