Policemen injured in stone-throwing in Jaipur

Jaipur: Over 30 policemen were injured in stone-throwing in the Idgah area here on Wednesday, following a rumour that a religious place in Chainpura village was demolished.

Over a thousand residents of the area started throwing stones at the police and damaged vehicles when the officials went there to convince them that no such incident had taken place, Jaipur Collector Kuldeep Ranka said.

The injured included SHO rank officials, Mr. Ranka said. The police resorted to a lathi charge to control the situation, he said. Five persons have been arrested. — PTI
