NEW DELHI: A 70-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death in a mini-bus at Kalyanpuri in the trans-Yamuna area on Thursday. Two men, including an alleged pickpocket, have been arrested. The incident took place around noon when Vishwanath Sehgal, a retired Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited employee who lived in Mayur Vihar, was on his way to a government office to get some incorrect entries on his ration card rectified. According to one version, Mr. Sehgal noticed three men standing on the footboard and allegedly misbehaving with a woman when the bus was passing through Kalyanpuri. He objected to it, at which one of them stabbed him in the thigh. However, the police said there was no eve-teasing and the stabbing incident took place when Mr. Sehgal asked the miscreants to clear the passage. “It appears to be a case of attempted pick-pocketing,” said a police officer, adding that the culprits attacked Mr. Sehgal when he raised an alarm. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. The police have registered a case and arrested two of the accused, Mahesh and Tejpal. They said Mahesh is a pickpocket. Efforts are on to trace the third person.
