Strict vigil for I-Day in Pudukottai

Intensive checks at lodges and marriage halls, surveillance at explosives shops

PUDUKOTTAI: Intensive checks at lodges and marriage halls, surveillance at explosives shops and special open-line patrolling are some of the exclusive measures taken by the police department as part of I-Day security arrangements.

Superintendent of Police P. Moorthy said that a strict vigil was being kept.

Action plan

An action plan has been put in place and, in all, the police personnel have been deployed at 106 places in parts of the district. Check posts have been opened in six places – Mathur, Viralimalai, Gandarvakottai, Aavanam and Aranthangi to monitor any unlawful vehicular movement.

The open-line patrolling at rail-roads have been set up at four places in the Tiruchi-Karaikudi and Tiruvarur- Karaikudi section..

Special patrolling teams comprising 203 constables, 19 Sub-Inspectors, 11 Inspectors, seven Deputy Superintendents of Police besides a couple of Additional Superintendents of Police have been drafted for duty, he said.
