Coimbatore: The President of the Indian Boxing Federation (IBF), Abhay Singh Chautala, congratulated AIBA President, Dr. Ching Kuo Wu, for his hard work, dedication and persistence in getting women’s boxing included in the 2012 London Olympics. “It is a moment to rejoice for the boxing fraternity across the world,” said Mr. Chautala. Mr. Chautala also pledged his full support and assistance to boxers from the federation in realising their dream of winning an Olympic medal. IBF’s Secretary General, Col. P.K. Muralidharan Raja, appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ching and his Secretariat, especially the Executive Director, Ho Kim and the AIBA women’s commission. He also said the support by the National federations of other countries as well as their own resulted in IOC giving the nod. He wished that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) also took note of the IOC decision and initiate necessary steps to include it as an Asian Games event in Guangzhou in 2010. Four-time World champion Marykom was happy that she could keep boxing till 2012 and go on to win a medal at the London Games. “It will be my dream.” — Sports Reporter
