Double for Suryas

VISAKHAPATNAM: Surya Tejaswani and Surya Pavan won two titles each in the AITA-VDTA Talent Series National-ranking tournament at the AU Tennis Complex here on Friday.

Tejaswani, who won the under-18 doubles event along with Shaik Amreen on Thursday, overcame Amreen 3-6, 6-4,6-4 in the under-16 singles final on Friday.

V. Nayanatara claimed the girls’ under-18 singles title, when her opponent and top seed J. Doondy Priya conceded the match due to ill health. Nayanatara won the first set and was trailing 3-4 when Priya conceded.

The boys under-16 and under-18 finals did not take place as Y. Sravan, who is top seed in both events, did not play due to a fever. Thus Surya Pavan and K. Srinivas were declared winners of under-18 and under-16 titles.

Earlier, Surya Pavan along with his brother Surya Siralasa won the boys’ under-18 doubles event, beating Nishant Rebello and S. Siddhardh 6-3, 6-2 in the final.
