KOLKATA: Sourav Ganguly was immensely satisfied with the five-day pre-season camp for the Indian domestic players at the Eden Gardens. Ganguly termed the camp successful. “It was very satisfying to have such a successful camp. We have plans to have more such programmes in future whenever we get the time. The next camp is tentatively fixed for September-end or early October,” he said. Replying to a question on recruiting the Indian Cricket League (ICL) players, Ganguly said every franchise would be looking to recruit them. “Knight Riders, too, have some of them in mind. It all depends on who is available.” The former India captain said he was not in a position to comment on WADA’s ‘whereabouts’ clause. “It is purely a matter between the ICC, BCCI and the players. I cannot make any comment on this,” he said. When asked about the controversy created by the presence of Ranadeb Bose of Kings XI Punjab and Manoj Tiwary of Delhi Daredevils during the just-concluded camp, Ganguly said it was not new to Indian cricket. “This has happened in the past. When a good physio is available, it is natural that players with injury consult him,” he said, adding that one should not read too much into this. About former director of cricket operations John Buchanan’s recent comments, Ganguly said Buchanan was a thing of the past as far as Knight Riders was concerned. “Knight Riders finished last in the second season because it did not play well. It is important to build a good side for the next season,” he said. Earlier, the team’s physio Andrew Leipus met all the players and handed over a fitness regimen to be followed till the beginning of the IPL third edition next year. — Special Correspondent
