Rahul sets meet record in men’s 800m freestyle
Josna takes her gold medal tally in the meet to five

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram won the overall title in the 56th State senior aquatic meet which concluded at the Water Works Swimming pool here on Friday. It tallied 412 points.

Thrissur, which emerged champion in the women’s section, came second with 317 while Ernakulam was third with 120.

The final day’s competition saw T.R. Rahul set a new meet record in the men’s 800m freestyle. Rahul clocked 9:25.10 to break R.S. Ashik’s one-year-old record which stood at 9:27.29.

Josna K. Joy of Thrissur took her gold medal tally in the meet to five, bagging the girls’ 100m and 400m freestyle events.

Railway Institute won the men’s water polo title after beating Thiruvananthapuram 12-6 in the final. Thiruvananthapuram won the girls’ crown edging out Wayanad 7-5.
