THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram drew with Kottayam in the South Zone under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at the Medical College ground here on Friday. In the morning, Kottayam collapsed dramatically and lost nine wickets for 112 runs to be dismissed for 207 which enabled Thiruvananthapuram take the first innings lead. The host took three points for the first innings lead while Kottayam got one. At the Ashramam Maidan, Kollam didn’t force a win after bundling out Pathanamthitta for 113 runs. Rahul Dev (113 n.o.) and Jackson Cleetus (50 n.o.) made merry as Kollam posted 250 for three in its second innings. Pathanamthitta was struggling at 67 for four when the match was called off. Kollam finished with three points, while Pathanamthitta got one point from the drawn tie. The scores: Thiruvananthapuram 341 for five & 242 for eight in 54 overs (Jeevan Raj 103, Sachin Mohan 46, Suraj five for 36, incl. a hat-trick) drew with Kottayam 207 in 55.4 overs (Govind 45, Subash Kumar four for 52, Abhishek Mohan three for 51). Kollam 383 for three & 250 for three decl. in 38.2 overs (Rahul Dev 113 n.o., Jackson Cleetus 50 n.o.) drew with Pathanamthitta 113 in 43.2 overs (Sreeraj five for 44) & 67 for four in 21 overs. In reply, Thrissur made 166 for six and in the process gained a 103-run first innings lead. The scores: Ernakulam 63 in 36.5 overs (Aneesh three for 27, Jithin Ramachandran four for 13) v Idukki 166 for six in 57 overs (Manudev 67, Vinukumar three for 16). Palakkad 282 for nine in 70 overs (Hariprasanth 103, Krishnakumar 59, Sandeep Warrier five for 78) v Thrissur 74 for no loss in 18 overs (Sreesankar 32 n.o.). It’s Arjun vs FebinAt Kochi, M.R. Arjun will clash with Febin Dileep in the under-13 boys’ singles final of the Kerala State sub-junior and mini badminton championships here on Saturday.
