THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram, the holder, entered the quarterfinals in the men’s category in the State cycle polo championships here on Friday with an easy 7-0 win over Kasaragod to enter the quarterfinals. Idukki, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Kozhikode also made it into the quarterfinals. In the women’s section, defending champion, Thiruvananthapuram blanked Ernakulam 8-0 to move into the quarterfinals. Idukki also made it into the last eight with a 10-0 win over Pathanamthitta. The results (league): Men: Ernakulam bt Kannur 8-0, Kasaragod bt Palakkad 1-0; Thiruvananthapruam bt Kasaragod 7-0; Idukki bt Wayanad 7-0; Pathanamthitta bt Ernakulam 6-1; Alappuzha bt Malappuram 7-0. Junior boys: Alappuzha bt Wayand 11-0; Thiruvananthapruam bt Kannur 7-0; Ernakulam bt Kasaragod 6-0; Alappuzha bt Pathanamthita 10-0; Kozhikode bt Eranakulam 2-1. Sub-juniors: Alappuzha bt Pathanamthitta 10-0; Kozhikode bt Ernakulam 2-1. Women: Thiruvananthapuram bt Ernakulam 8-0; Idukki bt Pathanamthitta 10-0.
