Sunita Narain HYDERABAD: Environment activist and Director of Centre for Science and Environment Sunita Narain has been chosen for the 2009 Raja-Lakshmi award instituted by the Sri Raja Lakshmi Foundation, Chennai. The annual award to promote arts, literature, science, humanities and other intellectual pursuits, carries a prize of Rs. 1 lakh and a citation. She will also receive the $2,000 Dr. K.V. Rao and Dr. Jyoti Rao Award of the Telugu Fine Arts Society, New Jersey, United States. Lakshmi-Raja Vaidika Puraskaram 2009 will be presented to Vedic scholar Vangala Ramamurthy Ghanapaati. The awards will be presented in Chennai on November 19, according to P.V. Ramanaiah Raja, Foundation Managing Trustee.
