NEW DELHI: U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton greeted India on the eve of its Independence Day and reaffirmed America’s “deep commitment” to build a stronger bilateral partnership. She sent a similar message to Pakistan, which celebrated its Independence Day on Friday. Continued inspiration“People and political movements across the globe continue to be inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian people’s message of non-violence. When you raise your flag in celebration today, be proud of the values that it represents,” she said. In her message to Pakistan, Ms. Clinton recalled the words of Mohammed Ali Jinnah, whose efforts to bring “unity, faith and discipline” to the people of Pakistan resulted in the creation of the nation. She reaffirmed America’s commitment to stand by Pakistan in its “struggle against violent extremism.”
